Esther's Play About Esther's Play

Project type

New Works

Date

February 2023

Location

Philadelphia

Role

Esther

Esther, a Senior in college wants to write a play. Specifically, about "Identity". As she is writing her play, she takes inspiration from the people around her and the experiences she's had in her Musical Theatre Program at school as a non-white person. Esther discovers more about her identity as the play goes on and she talks about what it's like growing up as a person of color and as a woman. This play is honest, loud, funny and clear. It asks us to not only call out others but to look within ourselves to discover who we are and how we act as people.
